I was watching Funny Girl wondering which theatres some of the scenes were shot in. Specificaly the opening scene. If anyone knows any other specific theatres that were used in shooting specific scenes it would help my curiosity. Thanks.
According to IMBD, it was the Warner Brother Theatre in Los Angeles.

That's one of the old movie palaces in downtown Los Angeles. There are several in existence, some were also vaudeville houses, and they are still used for filming all the time (Midler's Gypsy, Dreamgirls, etc.)
There's also a wonderful classic film series called "Last Remaining Seats" where they show old movies in these theatres, usually with special guests introducing the films.
I've been a few times myself, and it's a terrific way to see these old, incredibly beautiful movie palaces. I saw the 1925 silent Ben-Hur in the mid-1990s with the original organist who accompanied the film for its premier. He was 19 at the time, and was around 90 when he played the film score "live" for us. I also saw "Laura" with its composer David Raksin.

Apparently, the Warner Bros. Theatre, used as the Ziegfeld Theatre in the movie "Funny Girl," is now a jewelry mart. Even with the glass cases, much of the theatre is still intact. It's open to the public for business, so anyone can go inside and check it out.
