go see "Sarah, Plain and Tall"

it's absolutely wonderful! it is NOT just a kid's show -- i think the adults actually loved it more than the kids! beautifully directed, written and acted. a totally satisfying theatrical experience. run don't walk to the Lortel Theatre.

My sentiments exactly
"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too." - Tom Stoppard, Shipwreck

re: go see 'Sarah, Plain and Tall'

I went to see the show on opening night, what a pleasant surprise! I was totally expecting a children's show, since that is how they billed it, but it is for adults too. I totally enjoyed it, it made me laugh and cry(multiple times). The story is so touching! The cast is fabulous from top to bottom. Becca Ayers is perfect as Sarah, and you get truely emotionally involved in wanting everything to work for the sake of the children and the father. The sets are simple, but they are enough that you feel you are in each location as the scenes change. The 3 piece orchestra is just enough to fill the space in the Lortel without overpowering. This is a great show! You can take children to it and they will love the humor, but adults can love it too, if the laughter and tears were any indication of how moved the audience was opening night.

It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956
