I asked this in the audition songs thread, but I'm not getting a response. I'm asking again just in case that thread is being skipped over.
Amneris had posted a selection of songs and one was "Who's Been Sitting in My Chair?" from Goldilocks the Musical. They have it at Amazon, but no audio clip is available so I was wondering if anyone knows of another site that might have a clip. I would also like to know if this is an uptempo or ballad, the vocal range, & if it's appropriate for a young teen. My daughter needs a song for a competition and we'd like something a little more obscure. It seems like everything is overdone these days. This sounds like it might be a good option. She's a mezzo with strong belt. Thanks!
There's a sample at Barnes and Noble.

It's a belty mezzo number, originally sung by a young Elaine Stritch. It's a ballad tempo, done in an ironic style - the melody is child-like, but the subject matter is adult:
"Who's been sleeping in my bed?
Just me... just me..."

Oh, thanks for that info. I couldn't really grasp the subject matter on a 25sec clip. I guess I was fooled by the title of the show.

Absolutely inappropriate for a young teen. You might want to consider MISS WHAT'S-HER-NAME from MISS SPECTACULAR, an unproduced musical by Jerry Herman, and available on CD and in sheet music.

Thanks for the suggestion; I've never heard of that one. I just listened to a clip and it's a definite possiblity so I'm ordering the CD so she can hear the whole song(Whoever decided 26 secs is long enough anyway?).
**edit**If anyone's interested I also found this on eMusic and was able to download the whole song & burn to CD. Great song for a young teen girl.
