You must have read my mind, tabby. As much as I hate threads like this, I'd like to ask the same question, with one slight change. I'm planning on rushing a Saturday matinee. Should we get there when the box office opens, or would we still be safe if we went later in the day?

good I am glad I am not alone! like should I buy tickets at 110 dollars a piece and then rush when I go? or would it be safe to just rush the day of and get tickets still? how far back would they be? Once I get into NY I would go right to the theatre to get them but I wouldnt be there till like 11ish

From what I understand, they seem to have rush tickets available all day. However, you would have to get there early if you want the front row seats. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to matter from what it sounds.

Try to get to the box office as close to 10am as possible, but if you can't then you can't. Enjoy the show!

I rushed Gypsy a couple Saturdays ago - I got there at 8:30 and there were already people in front of me since 7:30ish. Of course, we all wanted front row. But rush tickets in general are usually available all day if you don't care where you sit (the side orchestra seats aren't bad nor are the box seats as long as you're not in the very back).

I did student rush about 2 hours before an 8pm show. I ended up with 6th row, all the way the furthest seat on the right. Usually the view sucks when you are that far to the side, but in this case it was just fine.

I'd rather be reckless than rockless.

I got my student rush ticket a few weeks ago on a Thursday at about 4:30/5:00. I was far house left, about eight rows back. Luckily Laurents has staged the majority of the show down center. I think it wasn't until they went to Tessie's dressing room that I really felt like I started to lose anything, and even then it wasn't much, the important parts were still closer to center than they were to stage right.

In late August, I got seats in the Right Box (fantastic) at 2:05 for a 3:00 show. There are are always seats available.
