Here are my guesses for Equity (don't know much about local):
Best Choreography: Chicago or Hairspray. Both have very classy
and original choreography.
Best Costumes: As bad as I feel, I must say Starlight Express. So many tiny details!
Best Director: Topdog Underdog.
Best Director of a Musical: Michael Grief. He and Johnathon basically made Rent what it is. Not to mention dealing with the death of the creator before opening!
Best Ensemble Cast: One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest
Best Lead Female: Lillias White.
Best Lead Male: Clarence Williams III or Cleavant Derricks
Best Lighting: Rent. Lit perfectly to reflect moods.
Best Music Director: Hairspray or Rent. Rent uses their ensemble flawlessly as many different parts. Hairspray's ensemble also uses them in different parts...in the background singing "Doo wop."
Best Playwright: Summertime or Topdog Underdog
Best Producer: Long Beach Playhouse for Hattie
Best Set Design: Rent. Definately the most innovative set of the 90's.
Best Sound: Like Jazz.
Best Supporting Female: Carlease Burke
Best Supporting Male: Terron Brooks

I hope Jim wins for hairspray's music direction.
Marc,

"Broadwayguy, Rent is a lot better than bubblegum pop!"
That is the score, not choreography, costumes, lighting, etc.
Is there an official web site for these awards? I have no idea what they are.
I wish they had nation-wide awards. That would be wondermus and would allow me to easily work in theatre talk in our chapter meetings.
yeah me too

I'm not sure of a website. A friend with the Hairspray tour emailed me a copy of the nominee list from a press conference.
