My camp puts on some great shows, but also some really terrible ones. I don't like Seussical, but my camp made it worse. They cut out half of it, had an awful cast (except for a few people) and really bad sets.
My camp also cut out half of Grease and had an awful cast.
Peter Pan-No one flew!

The family Von Trapp didn't look at all related, Maria looked older than the captain, the makeup just made the actors look dirty, the sets were crap-tacular, and we used real kids in 3 or 4 roles, and they were cute and all, but couldn't be heard. Anyway. It sucked.

My sister's college did Titanic... they made it look like a rickety tug boat
Then they did Chicago...the set was black white and fushia checkerboard....and Roxie was about 350 it was disgusting... they couldn't fit this girl in the spot light so they hit her with to spotlights that had to be open ful..... nothign rong with heavy people but it just wasn't believeable

Posted: 5/29/05 at 10:18pmI was recently in a production of Sound of Music... and wow. It was scary. We had more young children ("Townspeople") than real actors, and we added in about three scenes using them... "I Have Confidence" was replaced by Maria and a group of schoolgirls singing 'My Favorite Things', ect. We double-cast all the Von Trapp kids, and it was, frankly hard to believe that any of them were from the same family... oh, and our Maria and Captain were really, really, horrible. But the two people who should've had those roles ended up as Rolf and Elsa, thanks to a role stating that no person can have two lead roles in a row. Argh...

Yes I have witness a butchered musical...
1. West Side Story [had 3 columns of blocks as their ENTIRE set]
2. Oklahoma! [Aunt Eller was NOT funny and SUCH a bad actor... the rest of them were decent, but still not up to par at all]
3. Annie Get Your Gun [bleh... enough said]

I saw a production of Copacabana that made me wish for my two hours back. I called it Crap-A-Ca-Boring.
I also was so upset when I saw a production of DREAMGIRLS that toured. The Effie was so aweful and could not sing, It made me so so mad. The I read the next day they fired her ass after that performance and got BJ Crosby to do the part. (damn a day early!)

Thats outrageous money for tickets to a local show! I saw the worst highschool production of INTO THE WOODS. Just wayyyyyyyy to challenging for them to attempt Sondheim.

bwayDreams,
I'm from winnipeg in canada, i LOVE miss saigon as well, a touring company came by and gave me the pleasure of seeing it done magnificantly.
THEN a year later our big musical theatre company decided to do it. I'll say these things..:
*the stage was TINY, which was a write-off from the start...
*the set was SO cheap!! it was painted bamboo shoots on a tarp! :S aaahhh
*EVERY instrument was synth! The beginning was so musically weak i thought there might be something wrong with the speakers :S
*our actors were good but our 'kim' was drowned out by everyone she had a duet with
*for 'morning of the dragon' or whatever that song is called; the choreography was like...middle school styles with 10 minutes of marching with an occasional tiger/dragon kute being dragged across the stage by an actor
I'm not even going to get into the helicopter scene....gawrsh... i walked out of there like: :|
