Never walked out on a show. Saw some people walk out of Les Miz though. During Rent, there was an old couple behind me who kept complaining. I don't know why some people who are very conservative walk into a theater without knowing what the show is about. I wished they'd just walked out.
I've never walked out of a show, though I've come close. I did witness a whole group of high school students leave 15 minutes into the start of a touring production of Cabaret. It was interesting hearing and watching the chaperones try to get them out of their seats and into the lobby. Not sure exactly what they expected the show to be about, but the kids didn't understand why they were being pulled out. Otherwise, I've seen a lot of people leave during various shows at the regional theatre I worked at.

I never have but I almost did walk out of NOTRE DAME DE PARIS in London. Such an AWFUL show!!!
The guy sitting next to me in London in MARY POPPINS didn't come back to see the Act 2. His wife and kids did. I'm sure if he had had an aisle seat he would have left during the Act 1.
A lot of people left my college's production of Into the Woods during the intermission. It wasn't because they thought it was bad; they thought the show ended with act I. It was because the playbill gave no information about the show, and the fact that act I ended "happily ever after" just added more to the confusion.
The tickets were only $5, so it's understandable that people didn't do any research beforehand on what they were going to watch.

Out of all the shows I've seen, I've only walked out of two. One was Rent, the other was this atrocious show called Different Fields off-Broadway. I wanted to walk out of a David Mamet play, The Old Neighborhood, but there was no intermission so I was stuck.
I think as long as you wait until intermission (ie, don't disturb the other patrons), it's perfectly fine to leave. I understand that it might be tough for the actors to see empty seats, but perhaps they're preferable to seats filled with people looking miserable and bored.

Never have and never will. But I have a friend who does all the time. If he doesn't like it, he leaves. He left at intermission of many many shows. The only ones I remember he said he left during the first act was The Odd Couple and The Grinch (I still don't understand why he couldn't sit through 45 minutes.)
