Posted: 4/9/05 at 12:55pmCan someone explain how attending events at Joe's Pub works? I've got a ticket for the Leading Men concert, which says it's general admission. Is it necessary/advisable to also make dinner reservations in order to get a seat? Or can a person just attend the show? I've never been there and I'm flying in from London that day, so any advice from regulars would be a great help!

Posted: 4/9/05 at 1:08pmIt's general admission, so if you have a ticket you'll get in, but making a reservation guarantees you a table, and sometimes you can request how close/far away you sit. If you don't make a reservation, you can sit at any tables that might be left, sit at the bar, or stand. It's a very small venue, so you can see perfectly from just about anywhere you end up, but if you want a table, your best bet is to make a reservation. I think the food/drink minimum is higher if you make a reservation, but when I was there, they were really flexible and didn't hold to it at all.

Posted: 4/9/05 at 1:13pmI would say definitely try to order dinner and make a reservation; otherwise, they seat you by the bar, and you have a good chance of getting your view of the stage blocked by huge columns (like I did) or getting a really crappy seat in general. From now on, I'm gonna try to avoid Joe's Pub...with a $20+ ticket and dinner...it's cheaper getting rush tickets to go see a show on Broadway.

When I went, I found that it was easier to just get a table reservation so you DIDN'T have to sit at the bar or on the side, where you have a blocked view.
I made table reservations and was quite pleased with my seat. And I didn't even eat dinner, just sat and drank coffe, but they were fine with that.

Posted: 4/9/05 at 4:10pmI like the atmosphere of Joe's Pub a lot. Even though I didn't order in time to get a dinner reservation, I had a decent seat off to one side and could see fine.

Posted: 4/9/05 at 4:15pmI always make a dinner reservation when I go to Joe's Pub. It's the best bet. I would recommend doing that.

You can (and should) make them any time after the tickets go on sale, probably as soon as you can. Just call them.

They have very good food there.
Dinner is worth it...
