at what time do alot of people get there? i want to make sure i get seats and i know it depends on timing too but i was just wondering when alot of people start getting on line. any help is always appreciated
To my knowledge, it does not matter what time you get in line at TKTS because shows keep releasing tickets throughout the whole day.

Sometimes the later you go, the less of a line there is. There have been times that I didn't have to wait at all (about an hour to show time).
another TKTS question.. if i'm seeing a matinee [already have those tickets] and i want to do TKTS for a night show, what time does it open for evening performance tickets? and because i'm seeing a matinee, will i still be able to get tickets? or will it be picked over by the time i get there..
thanks!

3 pm for nite shows on a saturday.
Don't forget about TKTS down by South Street Seaport. They sell matinees a day in advance, and evening shows earlier than the booth in the theater district.
I went after I saw a matinee at Legally Blonde. I had great Mez tix for Spring Awakening. I actually saw more of the show up there than when I saw it in the orchestra. I highly recomend making friends with people in line...that is what I did and they can be helpful when pushing you through when windows open.
plus the tix were only $45.
Like someone previously stated I've also sometimes gone at the last minute (around 7:45pm or so) and there is usually no line at all. Good choice of shows too if you are open minded about what you want to see. Just be careful of how much time you have left between getting a ticket and getting to whichever theatre you need to get to.
i'm going in mid-august, and my only fear is that after the tony's everything i will be interested in seeing will be impossible to get tickets for.. which is unfortunate, that's the only negative about the tony's.. if there's a show you want to see, kiss it goodbye after the tony's if it wins!

thats exactly my problem! i want to see spring awakening but after the tonys im afraid i wont be able to.
I was horrified the day that I went to the TKTS booth at around 3 (when it opens, right?) and the line was down the breezeway and around the corner. But it moves very quickly once those windows go up - I think I stood in line all of 10 or 15 minutes. If you go like two hours before show time there is generally a MUCH smaller line.

Question about the South Street Seaport booth: I was always under the impression that the booth in the theater district had more tickets available, because their location in relation to the theaters made it more convenient for shows to release tickets to them. Is that true, or am I mistaken?

I think it's all done electronically now. There used to be a time that runners had to go get tickets from the Box Offices but I think that computers solved that problem.
in my experience, ever since TKTS moved to its temporary location, it has been waaaaay easier to get tickets even if you're not there crazy early. I'm not sure if this is because not everyone knows where this location is since it's kind of hidden, but there hasn't been any line whenever i've gone (on popular nights and days) and i'm not always there crazy early.
