i was wondering cause MLB has been in DEH since the opening. so almost 2 years. how long are the alternates contract usually last then?
an alternate (or a standby or an understudy) is no different than any other cast member. There need not be a term contract, but one can of course be negotiated. Otherwise, the engagement is on the production contract. FYI, there is no alternate in DEH.
I think every cast member signed on to one year at first, then extended as they wished. MLB probably signed for one year then signed for another year and has extended again.
Also, MLB is the Evan alternate. He also understudies the role at other performances, as well as Jared and Connor. But he is very much the Evan alternate.

Might be stupid question
But always curious of how does alternate salary work. Do they only get paid for that performance or there is a minimum salary? Since someone can’t live off one performance.

its like an understudy/swing i believe and according to playbill it says:
Understudying roles also comes with additional pay. Swings, who understudy multiple ensemble tracks, earn $101.70 over the performer minimum, or $15 if a performer is only a partial swing. Understudying principal roles can add $54.50 to the weekly salary, while understudying chorus roles adds $15.
I see that Brown became an alternate at some point. An alternate qua alternate would not be paid a supplement when they go on. As an understudy, there is an additional amount. An alternate who also understudies like Brown gets the supplement. One who does not, like Donna Murphy for example, does not.The understudy amounts and structure, andrew, are not what you list. There are 2 separate things: base pay supplements (the calculation of which depends on whether one is a performing understudy or not), and performance supplements, which apply 1/8 of the actor's pay for each performance. A general understudy assigned 3 roles gets no extra on the base. The stuff related to swings gets even more complicated.
