im sure this has been a thread before, so if it has please just comment the link ...
so i was just wondering how much do ensemble members get paid a week, a month, a year ... whatever you guys no. thanks !
It varies from show to show.
I believe there is an Equity minimum, and it is somewhere around $1400 per week?
In my 42nd Street program it says $1,215. I know for a fact that it has gone up since 01 when the program was published. But it all depends. Some chorus members are paid more if they have solo bits or speaking lines.
$1422/week min
but, after taxes , manager and agent fees, it's practically nothing. Maybe $400 a week if you're lucky. A friend on bway in the chorus who did not have to deal with agent/manager fees made about $900 and this was 2 years ago.
The daughter of some guy at my dad's church just got cast in the Mamma Mia touring production, and apparently she's going to be getting $2400 a week once it's up and running, but now in rehearsals is getting only $800 a week.
Of course, there's always the possibility he could've heard wrong or forgotten, but he told me an hour after he got home so those are pretty good odds. :)
That amount may also include per diem which on an Equity tour can be a nice chunk o change.
