how some musicals get chosen over others...

Posted: 12/15/06 at 8:00pmScott Alan just put up a new blog entry which is a tad depressing. I think his music for 'Piece' is fantatsic...he is working so hard to get this musical out to the public and I want to see him succeed so bad..because he deserves it. Why does it seem though that some musicals are getting produced and sent to Broadway, when they probably will not be good. I am not saying that 'Piece' would be necessarily good on Broadway but I think it would work great Off-Broadway. Although, all I have heard is music, so it could stillw ork great on Bway. I just want this guy to have a wonderful career, because he deserves it.

Posted: 12/16/06 at 4:30amA large portion has to do with finding backing. Personally, I am not a fan of "Piece" (Then again, once Shoshana Bean attaches her name to anything I lose interest) I've gotten really tired of "Never Land" and "Home" which everytime I see those posted I get excited b/c I think it'll be "Peter Pan" or "The Wiz." There are a lot of people who write good musicals (Which good is a subjective term, as [tos] points out), that never get produced, and then there's Andrew Lloyd Webber.
