ideas for recent innovations in the broadway industry?

ok this is a shameless post seeking some ideas for an assignment... i am not a fine-arts student and no im not writing a thesis or anything, simpily looking for some ideas to build upon...

the assignment is to come up with some recent new creative innovations in an field of interest.

I of course want to choose broadway, and i guess the business/production side of things.

anyone have any neat ideas?
