Stop freaking out people. The theatre is not going to be burned down. They're much more ineterested in Taye and Idina.

nothing new--just what was in the post story, that it's being classified as a hate crime, the gershwin had no comment, random sound bites from shocked theatre patrons, shots of people waiting at the stage door. Showed clips of them in RENT and mispronounced her name as "AI-dina" but it is really awful--seeing it on tv makes it resonate more. Sick mofos out there.

wow... it really is true. i didn't totally trust the post, but then it was in newsday, which i think is more reliable. so it's not really as blown out of proportion as people think, if it made it onto the 6 oclock news...

It was in the Post this morning, on the front page. Taye's been getting letters from some moron who is threatening to castrate him for being married to a white woman, and the guy is also threatening to burn the Gershwin down.

Oh wow, that's terrible! Yeesh, call me naive but I thought society was far past the interracial "controversy"! Why them though? Aren't there other famous interracial couples?

Oh wow. That's really, really sad that they or anyone has to deal with crap like that- I can't imagine. No wonder Idina isn't big on stagedooring. Nobody deserves crap like that.

Another thing that shocked me was the announcement of their wedding on the BET website - it produced a slew of comments like "Why couldn't you marry a sista, Taye? Why are you marrying a she-devil?" Racism and intolerance occurs on both sides, sadly enough.
