Posted: 9/15/04 at 9:37pmPersonally, i think Eden's belting voice sounds a little awkward and forced. Her head voice is very pretty though. Idina was more controlled and has an amazing belt voice. Eden's is a little shrill and not suited for belting.
#12re: idinas absences
Posted: 9/15/04 at 10:41pmeden does not belt eden mixes shes a mixer she mixes her chest and head voice so that it had a powerful amazing sound , belting is the unhealthy way of doing it (but idina can do it cause shes jst sickly amazing) but eden doesent belt she was classicly trained to mix and now look where she is now!!!!!!! all broadway actors are all trained classical and modern u do the classical and then go with the modern but if your doing voice always start with classical that way u stretch your range. i have a three octave and i can go really low and really high but i can do modern now cause i was classically trained. kristin chenoweth graduated from oklahoma i believe in voice not musical theater and she is a perfect example of what learning classical and not belting your range out at a young age can do.......ive proven my point

Posted: 9/15/04 at 11:14pmActually, wicked4life, I'm not one to know this but my well-trained and well-read chorus teacher says Idina mixes also, but it sounds like she is belting. He just says she mixes so well. So, she apparently is doing the same thing as Eden it just sounds beltier.

This is a reply to wicked4life51 and CurtainUp:
This past summer, I attended a musical theater workshop in NYC, and Eden was one of the people in the seminars. She performed "The Wizard and I" (it was amazing, but we'd seen Idina in Wicked the night before, so it was a tough comparison!), and afterwards I asked her about her training. She never really had any! She said she didn't ever have any training in voice pre-Wicked, but that now that she had her own show to do (however many times a week), she'd started taking voice lessons with someone. Can you imagine? Considering that, I was pretty impressed. It was also cool to see the difference in interpretation between her and Idina. I wish Eden nothing but the best, but those Brooklyn songs are pretty taxing, so I'm very glad she's started to take lessons!

Posted: 9/16/04 at 1:02amJoined today and already talking about Brooklyn MTG??? SUSPICIOUS!!!! Just kidding. Watch out for the shill accusers. That's crazy about Eden. She NEEDS to take voice if she's gonna just flat out hit G Sharps!! She could do major damage.

holy ****, kristy cates is actually going to go on??? thats cool, i hope she doesnt suck! somebody needs to bootleg that ****.
anyway just to clear up some confusion for WickedIy and others, Cristy (with a c) candler is nessa's understudy and you probably did see HER go on (i went last night and she was on, she forgot the lines in WWOTE (i.e. her ONLY song), so its probably a good thing that SHE isnt going on as elphaba), Kristy (with a k) cates is elphies understudy, and im excited that shes going on.
ttyl.

Posted: 9/16/04 at 5:00pmAbout Cristy on Tuesday... I know it was her on stage, but I think I saw Michelle come out afterward and ride away on her bike. DO we think that means Cristy might take over the Nessa role? I didn't really like her. SHe was too quiet, and slurred her words when she sang.

I like how the last two posts completely contradict each other.
