as of this year all the original principals of wicked are tony award winners. Idina for wicked obviously, kristin for charley brown, norbert for drs, joel for cabaret, and carole for the elephant man. Has this happened with any other show?

What about Michelle and Christopher?

Are they not principles?

i'd in all technicalities classify the three as supporting, they don't do much for large periods of time in the show (especially dillamond).

A princepal role is a leading role. In no way are Dillimond, Boq or Nessarose principles. Neither is Morrible or Wizard...but you can't argue that they - including George Hearn (left out of the original post and won a Tony for Sunset Boulevard) are Tony winners.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

just wanted to throw out there that George Hearn not only won a Tony for Sunset, but picked one up earlier for his portrayal of Albin in the original La Cage.

My point Justice.

I mean, the cast has a lot of Tony winners - but only three principles!

Jonart, you're right> i realised after i posted that you meant originals...but, if you think about it, they replaced a Tony winner with a Tony winner - not to mention Joel Gray replacing Tony Winner Robert Morse. Choreographed by Tony Winner Wayne Cilento (Tommy), directed by Tony winner Joe Montello (Take Me Out) and written by Tony winner, Stephen Schwartz...wait...did Stephen ever win a Tony???

Schwartz has no Tony.

Bill Youmans needs to win a Tony for SOMETHING some day. If only for the song he wrote about a yak...
