It's ok, I won't bite your head off like some others would do - I'm not that hungry at present!
No, it isn't closing (shame though)

Posted: 11/1/04 at 10:39pmit would take a hurricane to close that show. apparently, while building the set, they uncovered a money tree. it just produces endless supplies of cash for the producers, in exchange for Broadway's soul.

Posted: 11/1/04 at 10:48pmWhy does everyone hate Bombay Dreams so much anyways? I saw it last march in London and thought it was great. sure its different and its not exactly deep/ the story is a little well i wont ever go there. but its alot of fun and has some great songs and the dancing is just so interesting. sure its not your typical broadway fair but i think thats whats good about it. anyways just my rant. i konw im gonna get eaten alive but still I think that people really need to give that show more of a chance

Posted: 11/1/04 at 11:00pmHave you seen how many Indian people walk out of the Bombay Dreams Theatre? They're keeping it alive and yes, Bombay Dreams IS a good show and it's thin plot is not different from a lot of shows on Broadway. What's so different?

I can't speak for others, but I personally dislike it because it makes so little attempt to even disguise itself as anything substantial. I realize it's musical theatre, and no one expects brilliance and complexity for a show to be successful, but at least other bad shows (the ones that make up 95% of the posts here) make an effort to pass themselves off as "legit".
I can tolerate that sort of thing, these "Musical Theatre Lite" works that contain a few elements of good theatre but ultimately fall back on expensive effects and pre-teens with too much money. I'll admit, it serves as a good teaching tool and at least gets more people interested in Broadway and hopefully exposed to the great stuff out there.
But Bombay Dreams is a bad combo of different and unredeeming. Different is wonderful if you're "Bring In Da Noise" or "Blast" or even "Mamma Mia" to an extent, but this sort of thing is just no good, son.
