Would you recommend this - or are they overrated? Thank you.
I sat in the first row center, just behind the cabaret folks, so had some heads blocking my view a bit. But to answer your question: in my view, they are overrated, from a cost differential perspective. There is some stage interaction with the cabaret folks, which should not be unexpected.
I think that sitting a bit further back is better.
It's worth it if you have the money to spend on it.
If it's a situation where you're saving up for a special occasion, then it's not that special. The Cagelles will dance on the tables. They'll interact with you here and there for four numbers (very brief), and Albin and Georges each have one moment with you. All very brief, and nothing stand-out. Just a bit of extra fun.

Don't waste your money on the cabaret seating -- the seats are so close to the stage that you cannot appreciate the full show. And the "interaction" with the performers is minimal at best. You would be better off spending your money on good center orchestra seats a few rows back.
George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek) was sitting at the tables for the performance I was at.

Jerry Herman was sitting at my table.
Sure he was. Was Carol Channing and Angela Lansbury there, too?
Before I saw the show, I assumed those tables would have more involvement. I thought they would actually be up on stage and part of the show somehow especially for the price! When I finally saw the tables, I actually just viewed them as another Row A. Yeah, the Cagelles are right up in your face (literally) but it's only for brief moments. That kind of close up and personnel interaction can sometimes happen in a Row A for any other show. I think it's best to sit further back so you can appreciate the choreo and everything else on the entire stage. Now if there were ever a lottery for sitting at these Row A tables, well, then that's a different story!

I had a blast. Elton John and Rush Limbaugh were at my table. It was Rush's bachelor party.
