How does the concert differ from the actual stage production? Are all the songs and characters still there? I'm very excited Robert Evan is getting to record it

When I saw the Concert version of J&H here in Marlton, NJ there were only 3 people in the show. Lucy, Emma, and Dr. J. There was very little dialogue and no set (but there were props and costumes and minimal staging/movement). The band is on stage and u can see and hear the addition of instruments. All of the ensemble numbers are gone and you’re left with all of the giant solo numbers. The work Frank has done to the score is great. The music has never sounded better (a little more rockish then the OBCR). Rob Even was amazing when I saw him on Broadway and he was still fantastic 5+ yeas later.

I honestly didn’t enjoy J&H when I saw it on Broadway, but I have always been a fan of Frank's music and the score for J&H. This concert version was everything I wanted and I recommend going to see it and can NOT wait for this recording.

I hope this helped.

I second that. The score is incredible. It mixes all the great songs Frank wrote into the show. The new rock orchestrations by Kim Scharnberg are incredible as well. Kim is one of the best orchestrators on Broadway now; never using a synthesized instrument. Kudos Kim.

Wait, there is no chorus?

But who is going to sing: "To kill outside St. Paul's, requires a lot of balls."?

Here's a link to the review of the concert when it premiered in Marlton last summer.

(For a heads up on how it differs the above review links to the interview with Rob who explains some of the differences.)

Rob is joined by Kate Shindle as Lucy and Brandi Burkhardt as Emma. It is performed with it's own band or can be booked with an orchestra.

Here's Rob's website which links to the tour of J&H in Concert

This production was fantastic. I was lucky enough to get invited to the world premier of it here in Birmingham, and afterwards i got to sit down with the cast and talk to them all. Rob Evan, who of all the Jekyll and Hydes I've heard and seen, was by far the best. His performance was WAY intense, and he was a SUPER nice guy. Kate Shindle was one of the best "belters" I've heard in a long time too. As a matter of fact she takes the higher note for the last note of "in his eyes" and belted it! And it was a nice powerful belt.....not screached. SOOOOO here is a good broadway "leak" although I dont know if I'm the first to leak it.... When I met Kate after the show I told her she reminded me of Eden Espinosa (who i absolutely adore) and Kate said that she was going to be out for a few of the shows and that Eden was going to be her fill-in. YAY Im a leaker..... Sooooo then Brandi....I really enjoyed her as Emma. She has an incredible mix from chest to head. She has a unique yet extremely powerful belt voice and a beautiful head tone too. She told me after the show that she loved this performance because she got to do what she wanted with Emma....and it showed. I can't really describe it...but she plays Emma differently than I've ever seen before. All in all....jsut an incredible evening. Frank Wildhorn was there and I got to talk to him briefly about the production. For those of you who don't know. Emma sings a song in the first act that was written jsut for this production, it is not out on recording or anything yet....so keep your eyes out for this cast recording, it is going to be better than the rest.
