my college orientation is this weekend in nyc, and im going up early on thurday so that i can maybe catch a show. ive decided to try to do it the smart way to try to save money, but truth be told, im not sure what the smart way is. ive narrowed my choices down to aida, hairspray, and caroline or change. aida is choice #1 (luvtheemcee's demands, lol- but i really do want to catch it a few times before it closes)- so my question is what are my chances of getting aida tickets at tkts- or the cancellation line, and what are my other options?
and if it doesnt look like i could get ahold of aida tickets, what about caroline and hairspray?
thanks!

You can order AIDA discount tickets in advance here. That way you can be prepared before going into the city and won't have to worry about being screwed if they don't have what you want:

Caroline or Change is NOT that expensive if you can get this discount:

BroadwayBox.com - good place for discounts.

Posted: 7/24/04 at 11:22pmCaroline is really expensive. Try the lottery for Avenue Q or Hairspray. If you have time, try the lottery for Wicked, but plan on not winning. If you can afford the $50, see Wicked or Avenue Q from the balcony.

Hairspray isn't all that difficult to get, but be prepared to lose if you go to Wicked or Avenue Q. As for AIDA, it's not hard to get student tix to that, you just have to be prepared to get up early enough!

yes, student rush is less then tkts - 25 as opposed to about 50. this info is copied from
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/boards/rush.html
which has info for all the theater's rushes
depending on the show, ppl start lining up early for rush, i don't know how early they start for caroline though

Posted: 7/25/04 at 12:39amI ordered tickets online for Caroline or Change prior to going to NYC and they were $67 each but they were in the hearing impaired section (left side of theatre because they were doing "closed captioning" that night) but when I picked them up at the box office they moved us to actually better seats, 5th row center. Awesome show.
