I know there have been posts about this before, but since they were all from a year or two ago I figured I'd ask again. Anyone have thoughts about Liz Caplan? I've heard it's hard to get a lesson with her. Do you have any chance of studying with her if you don't have a lot of singing experience? How are her associates? Thanks!!!

I've called her twice and left voicemails that I'd like to study with her, and I've never received a return call (not even from a staff member of hers). In my message, I also used the name of a rather successful Broadway singer who referred me to her in the first place, and even that didn't work. I don't understand it, because after all, she is running a business.
She is very popular. I dont think you can just call and set up an appt with her.
If you're looking for a good technique coach, as I have said before, David Sabella is wonderful. His website is www.sabellamills.com.

When was this?
I know first hand that Liz is very good about returning both phone calls and emails. Occasionally she has been away (on the road) with clients and has had limited online access.
Is she very expensive to study with?
She's not the cheapest nor is she the most expensive (I think) - but her associates, I've heard are quite reasonable
I heard from someone that it was around 140 for an hour or 45 minutes. I can't quite remember what they said but it was around that.

If the other teachers at her school are hired and trained by her, I imagine they'd be great to study with and probably more reasonably priced. A lot of us are in a money crunch. I find that if I take a lesson once every 3 weeks but work very hard on my own in-between, my voice improves. A lot of people make tapes of their lessons but don't listen back to them. Listening to those tapes is very helpful.
