Yep, Bush and Santorum are conservative, but still compassionate enough to believe that gay men and woman should not have the same rights as them, theat two men having sex should be illegal, and compassionate enough to compare me to someone who has sex with a family member of a farm animal. He sure is compassionate. isn't he??

The Vermont thing is OK for now, but the Canada thing is batter. The vermont law is so totally Jim Crowe, but atleast it is something.

re: re: marc and scott's kiss and politics

The Baptists have been trying to "cure" gay people for years. I remember reading about "ex-gays" somewhere.

I asked my partner if she wanted to move to Canada. It's too cold up there! re: re: marc and scott's kiss and politics I think we'll stay here in the San Francisco area and work and hope for change.

The only things is, now instead of saying "We hate you, burn in hell forever" or sueing the government to let them fly ati-gay banners over gay events (can we fly anti-homophobe banners over the southern baptist convention??? They'd probably sue), they are going to try and trick us into it by being nice!

What a Fantastic Kiss!!

Hi Folks!

A friend told me about this board and even though I haven't done the "message board thing" in forever, I thought I would take a look. Imagine my glee at the first subject that I came across. I already love you fine people!! Deanna, I too, am a lesbian and have been with my partner for 8 1/2 years. We also want children... making us... potential breeders? LOL

Nevertheless, my partner and I screamed with delight upon viewing the infamous kiss on the Tonys. Hurrah!!

I am a little less optimistic about seeing legalized marriage for same-sex couples in my lifetime, but there is ALWAYS hope. We've never had a ceremony partly due to money (no parental assistance for these two brides), and I guess partly due to expecting that people won't take our wedding and marriage seriously like a heterosexual marriage. I, too, was raised Catholic, but have not defined myself with ANY organized religion in my adult years as I am disgusted with it all. I still have a spiritual faith, but it is my own, and not governed by anyone's stifled rules.

And BroadwayGuy, unfortunately gay is not the only new black. Being a female has been pretty dark for me, too. I am desperately (along with my wonderful partner) trying to climb out of the hole we have been buried alive in, and trying to find self-worth AND love. It's a bitch to find, but we ALL deserve it.

Hang in there Brothers and Sisters!!

re: What a Fantastic Kiss!!

See, another homo who wants kids! I love it! :) we can be just as good as parenting as heteros.

same thing here. I I ever get wed, my parents will never in their life give me even emotional support. in this family, my sexuality is 'known', but never mentions so it's pretty much an everyone is in denial but me. I have never said "mom, dad. I'm gay." they are too homophobic for that to happen while they can still find me! lol. but as a teen. i will admit that my walls had pictures of nsync, justin timberlake, and nick carter. lol. anyone who went in there knows i'm gay. he he he.

optimnistism is a must. and we must all come together and vote bush and his entire reight wing party out of power in 2004. DEAN!!

Welcome aboard, AReinkingfan. Good to see more gay breeders! re: re: What a Fantastic Kiss!!

Broadwayguy, Dean would be good, but I think Gephardt could be as good. His daughter is openly gay and is campaigning for him. Here's an interesting article in the SF Chronicle.

yeah I red that one to. They should be running mates!
i don't think some people realize how strong the 'gay' vote can be. In the lasyt presidential election, more people voted who identified themselves as gay than people who identified as hispanic. and that says something partly becasue I know a few people who are gay but don't identify as gay to the government. that means the numbers of us were larger than that. One problem though. In the last presidential election, 1 in 4 gay voters voted for BUSH! Apparently, they didn't know who he was and what he stood for when it comes to us.

To Dream The Impossible Dream...

Thanks for the welcome, Gang! Glad to hear so much optimism. It's truly refreshing. Neither my partner nor I are political, although we both know we should be. Sometimes I feel that we have already made a pretty loud "statement" just by living in our domesticity every day.
I've always said that when a woman runs for president, that is when I will register to vote. I guess I need to be careful who the woman is, though. We don't need a Dr. Laura type in the White House. (YIKES!)
I can hardly believe that our same sex Canadian neighbors may be allowed to legally wed soon. Maybe I should go way back to my French Canadian roots!!

Deanna, I would LOVE to know how you and your partner are going about getting pregnant! We are maybe a year or so away from it ourselves, but I can't wait too much longer, as I probably don't have many years left. We are so "wet behind the ears", so to speak, about the whole thing and there is so much to know. Everything from the actual finding a gay friendly doctor for artificial insemination, to the other partner legally adopting the child, and so forth. I would love to hear about your experiences! (If you care to share.)

Sorry if I got too far off subject.
