As far as how nice he is, I cannot tell, but he seems as charming as all get out. I've got a videotape recording of Michael Ball talking to Harry Smith from the CBS Morning Show the week prior to the Tony Awards broadcast when ASPECTS OF LOVE was nominated. Michael seemed utterly charming and winning and then sang "Love Changes Everything" with only piano accompaniment that was absolutely gorgeous.
