Hard to believe Hillary Swank -- whose calling card on film is honesty and accuracy of character detail -- could be so unbelievable. But you saw it, and we didn't, so we are guessing at best. At the very lesat, I have no doubt that she needed to find stage chops (like Lange). Too bad she wasn't a bigger draw, and she could've toured in the play for 3 or 4 months before NY, honing on the road. Many an actor has found 'stage legs' in the school of hard knocks, i.e. having to deliver 8 times a week. No rehearsal hall duplicates that discipline. I hope she does try the stage again. VICTOR/VICTORIA? (only kidding...)
