what musicals have songs (or long musical moments) in different languages than english?
(schadenfreude- does not count... i think...
and Weltenschauung as well...)
i can think of:
Light in the piazzza- italian
Parade- a bit of hebrew in "Sh'ma"
Ragtime-uses some yiddish, italian and more...
i'm sure there's lots more...
what else?

ASPECTS OF LOVE --
The story basically takes place in France, mostly in the southern part, and the female lead is that of a French actress (Rose Vibert). She sings this song ( which is one of the show's musical themes" :
CHANSON D'ENFANCE
Pas de tendresse
Et pas de joie
Loin d'ici
Loin de toi
Rien de plus triste
Que mes soupirs
Lorsque vient le jour
Ou il me partir
Chanson d'enfance
Tu vis toujours dans mon coeur
Toi, la plus douce
Toi, la plus tendre"
It is a simple but a ravishingly beautiful melody ( using the downscale) - check it out from the newly remastered version of the CD

Zoran is right. La Boheme was an opera concieved by Puccini first performed in 1896, it is definately not a musical. It may be considered that by some because of Baz Luhrman's recent revival.

Wow.. I'm suprised no one has mentioned CAMELOT yet. French

I don't know if this counts, but Phantom of the Opera has some Italian in it. It is spoken by Carlotta and Piangi. Nothing sung though.
