Hello to you all! I just posted a greeting on the Off-Topic board because it has simply been too long since we've spoken. I wanna keep posts to this board on topic, so I thought I'd mention my NYMF experiences and ask for suggestions for what to see before the festival ends.
I've been all tied up with moving into my apartment, so I've only had time to see "The Man Who Would Be King" so far. I enjoyed the show but agree that it's a bad story for the stage. The music was impressive though, and the 3 main males in the cast were exceptional despite none of them being named "Brian D'Arcy James".
I'm catching "Frankenstein" tonight because I need a little Schulman in my life and I've been a fan of Phil Hernandez since he did "Copacabana" in California. Sunday I've got a ticket for "The Big Voice". I'm happy to see all the great press it's been getting. Kudos to you Steve, and I look forward to seeing it!
I've got a few more days I'd like to catch a show and was wondering what suggestions you all might have. I can't find much cast info for most of the shows, so if you've had any great experiences at the festival, PM me or post here. Thanks all!

Go see Meet John Doe!! Donna Lynne is FANTASTIC... it's kind of dark, but it's very good!
Matt, I'm so glad you're coming to the show. PLEASE come up to me afterwards and say hello. I can't believe we only have two shows left. So far, I feel very encouraged by the response. Even those who felt it has its flaws (and what show doesn't?) still said really great things. I know someone somewhere is going to come along and hate us, but so far, so good.
But no matter what any critic says, MargoChanning liked it. That's like winning two Tonys.
Wouldn't miss it, Steve! The "Last Session" CD has seen me through some crazy days over the last few years. I can't wait to see and hear your newest creation, and I'm looking forward to meeting you after the show. I'll be there with Sara (dramafreak13) so there's no way we're leaving without saying hello!

Big Voice is loads of fun, Caligula is camp heaven and 100 Years Into The Heart one of the most emotionally shattering experiences I've ever had in a theatre. Everything about it just soars, the story, the acting, the music. Plus, there's a heavenly bare torso that's worth ten times the admission!

Check out Tim & Scrooge, also by Neil Berg (Man Who Would be King).
Like You Like It is so much fun, especially if you're a child of the 80's and a fan of John Hughes films. I think most of the performances are sold out already.
I think Caligula still needs a lot of work. I saw the concert reading in May, which ran 3hrs. They cut about 20 min or so, but it still feels looong. Maybe it's just not for me. The story really isn't all that engaging, though the cast is wonderful. Didn't really care for the nudity. Eww.
