Wow. Let me just put it bluntly...whoever doesn't like this movie is more of a drug addict than Mimi.

The movie was BEAUTIFUL, breathtaking, amazing, etc.

I'm actually mad that I read the negative reviews because I tried to look at the negative things.. but if i hadn't read them, I wouldn't have noticed anything. I actually think "Another Day" and its staging was very effective... LOVED IT. I missed "Goodbye Love" a little bit--but it was definitely not needed.

Highlights...
"Rent" the opening, brilliant... especially with the fire and when the entire ensemble comes out.. So powerful, GOOSEBUMPS.

"Glory" Roger's pain is so evident..

"Out Tonight" -- Rosario really made this role her own and did it justice - this is coming from a huge Daphne fan.

"Tango Maureen" HILARIOUS. Dance sequence was awesome...
"Over the Moon" Idina is HILARIOUS, especially her facial expressions...

"La Vie Boheme" wow, this number was incredible... so much energy and personality.

"Take Me or Leave Me" the engagement party REALLY REALLY worked... these two ladies are great together.

"I'll Cover You Reprise" Holy ****- I have never cried in a movie, and the tears just wouldn't stop... the viewing was so incredibly moving-especially when they all stood up and sang... and Idina's speech.

SO many people around me were sniffing and crying like crazy, during "Without You", "I'll Cover You Reprise" "Your Eyes" "Finale B"

This movie is pretty flawless--the transitions are the only minorrrr thing that I can see why some didn't like--but it did not bother me.

This movie is BEAUTIFUL, the message of Larson is incredibly intact and overwhelming.. I am SO proud to be a musical theater fan. This movie is what theater is all about-- Spread the love people. I will be seeing this movie over and over again...

Every performer was incredible...

I really, really enjoyed Adam's Roger...
Rosario was sexy, cute, heartbreaking.. Her "Without You" was very sad. She handled the dying scene very well and gave a very realistic portrayal of Mimi.. she is also stunning.

Jesse Martin really stole the show.. Everyone loved him... laughed at him so much.. "merry christmas, bitches!" his "I'll Cover You Reprise" was breathtaking, legendary, sooo emotional and real... Oscar nomination, please.

Anthony RAPP!!! AMAZING. His Mark was p-e-r-f-e-c-t. The audience could eat this character up--so cute and FUNNY. Everyone laughed at a lot of his lines.. so developed. great, great, performance.

IDINA!! HILARIOUS. Such a Diva.. Outrageous, audience loved her as well. Her facial expressions are to die for..

WILSON--the heart of the story, really. such a compelling and moving performance. People are going to LOVE Angel, Wilson made Angel so lovable and just great.

Tracie- perfect Joanne. could really see her frusturation with Maureen, and her being caught in Maureen's wild antics...

Taye Diggs- great job.. part wasn't huge, but he was great. Loved him as he watched his crazy friends embarassed during "La Vie Boheme"

This movie is extremely moving.. I almost enjoy it better than seeing it live. sure, some stuff was cut but it can't be exactly like the show--it keeps the message and that's all that matters. this is the type of movie that the world needs to see right now--even though Rent is very famous, millions of people don't know what it means. I feel like people still squirmed a little in the theater with the gay kisses--this is important for people to see this amazing movie and see the universal message of Rent.

Thank you to the amazing performers and everyone involved for making this movie. We needed it. :)

My friends who have never seen Rent LOVED it.

Also, the fading members of life support meaning is VERY effective...

"What You Own" really did not come across as cheesy to me. It was a good change from the depressing funeral - and when Roger comes back to NYC and hugs Mark on the roof-- it said it all.
The facial expressions of the characters revealed sooo much - i noticed this in all of the scenes. At Angel's viewing, Joanne looking at Maureen, for example.

SEE THIS MOVIE! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a teeny bopper, I've been a fan of Rent forever... I am just SO SO SOOOO HAPPY. It was great.

Cinematography was excellent.... Every performer should get an oscar nomination, but honestly, this show seems very ensemble to me so I don't know. Either way, awards don't matter... as long as the wonderful message is spread.

Measure your life in LOVE, people!!!

btw, did anyone have to sit through that stupid short film with Piper Perabo before the movie at the advanced screenings? haha.

Anyway, go see Rent--and see it more than once. I know I am!

Yeah I saw that short film. Ummmm, yeah. BUT Karmine Alers was in it! I was excited when I saw her. Can't say much else for the short. And I have NEVER seen so many credits for a 5 minute film. Yikes.

We saw the film short before our screening of RENT in Charlotte. Karmine Alers character was named Daphne. Funny.
