I went to New York City last month and before I went, I learned about as many of the Broadway shows as I could. I was hoping see more than one show, but we were only there a few days, so it didn't happen. Anyway, the point of this post is to ask you if anyone has any recommendations, suggestions, etc, etc, of what off-Broadway shows I should see. I already know quite a bit about the Broadway shows, but not that much about off-Broadway. I'm probably going to be going back to NYC in September and would love to take in a show or two while I'm there.
Depends on what is open then. Some great stuff has already closed--mostly because some theatres are limited run seasons.
Check out The Public, Manhatten Theatre Club, MCC, Atlantic Theatre Company (who are premiering a new play written and directed by Woody Allen), The Acting Company to name a few.
Long running shows:
I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change
Bare
Joys of Sex (haven't seen it, but great cast!)
The Normal Heart
Well
