premature exits

Why are all of these people leaving 'their' shows so early? Kristin, Hugh, and Hunter (ewww Joey Fatone) They haven't even been in them for a year and already they're gone (or will be soon) premature exits

re: premature exits

After doing 8 shows a week, I might be inclined to leave after a year. That's just my opinion. Maybe they felt they gave all they could to their respective characters and would like a new challenge. Maybe they thought what came up was a better opportunity. Just a few guesses.

re: premature exits

Hugh would have done a year when he finishes up his run September 12th -- hardly what I would call "early."

re: premature exits

Regarding Hugh and Kristin - they tend to have been involved in the show for MUCH longer than the amount of shows they actually do on Broadway. I believe Kristin and Idina will have been with the show almost 3ish years come July. That's a long time. As for Hunter, he's gonna be in the producers, so I guess he wanted to play a different role. I thought he was a perfect Seymour, and I hope he'll be a good Bloom.

re: premature exits

Define "early." I think all the people you mentioned fulfilled the terms of their contracts, which means they're leaving exactly on time.

I know that Foster is moving on to The Producers and Jackman has movies to film (not to mention that if he stayed for more than a year he might die of exhaustion). Their stars are on the rise and they're getting a lot of opportunities. Good for them.

And while BFO is definitely Jackman's show, Foster is hardly irreplacable. (Joey Fatone, though? Ew.)

re: premature exits

As far as Hugh is concerned, when you add in the rehearsal time and the previews, which started September 16, I would say he's put in his year...especially given the fact that he seems to give 120% in every performance.

They leave early because they hate you.

re: premature exits

All three of the actors you mention will have been with their shows at least a year once rehearsals and in the cases of Wicked and Little Shop, out of town engagements are factored in.

A year in a show is a healthy amount of time and it is better to leave while you're looking good rather than pulling out a performance like a wisdom tooth.

With all respect, Hunter and Kristen are not big stars, but Hugh Jackman, post X Men, certainly is and for him to give a show a year is a big deal. I hope he plays LA with it so "they" can see what he can do.

re: premature exits

Are you all insane!

Hugh Jackman's latest film just made 50 million on it's opening weekend...

He's got films to make!

He did a year! Enough!

I'm amazed he stayed this long..lugging that dog of a show on his back every night could not have been easy!
