Why are all of these people leaving 'their' shows so early? Kristin, Hugh, and Hunter (ewww Joey Fatone) They haven't even been in them for a year and already they're gone (or will be soon)

Posted: 5/13/04 at 4:11pmAfter doing 8 shows a week, I might be inclined to leave after a year. That's just my opinion. Maybe they felt they gave all they could to their respective characters and would like a new challenge. Maybe they thought what came up was a better opportunity. Just a few guesses.

I believe Kristin and Idina will have been with the show almost 3ish years come July. That's a long time. As for Hunter, he's gonna be in the producers, so I guess he wanted to play a different role. I thought he was a perfect Seymour, and I hope he'll be a good Bloom.

Define "early." I think all the people you mentioned fulfilled the terms of their contracts, which means they're leaving exactly on time.
I know that Foster is moving on to The Producers and Jackman has movies to film (not to mention that if he stayed for more than a year he might die of exhaustion). Their stars are on the rise and they're getting a lot of opportunities. Good for them.
And while BFO is definitely Jackman's show, Foster is hardly irreplacable. (Joey Fatone, though? Ew.)

All three of the actors you mention will have been with their shows at least a year once rehearsals and in the cases of Wicked and Little Shop, out of town engagements are factored in.
A year in a show is a healthy amount of time and it is better to leave while you're looking good rather than pulling out a performance like a wisdom tooth.
With all respect, Hunter and Kristen are not big stars, but Hugh Jackman, post X Men, certainly is and for him to give a show a year is a big deal. I hope he plays LA with it so "they" can see what he can do.

Are you all insane!
Hugh Jackman's latest film just made 50 million on it's opening weekend...
He's got films to make!
He did a year! Enough!
I'm amazed he stayed this long..lugging that dog of a show on his back every night could not have been easy!
