I saw WiW last minute tonight- and what a nice surprise! We got great seats at TKTS... and really enjoyed the show.
Not knowing the story or music- I was really drawn in. The projections actually work really well- and I appreciated them as something new and different.
Lisa Brescia went on for Maria- and she was AMAZING. She really did a nice job with all the music!
The rest of the cast was GREAT!
I am really glad I saw this show! Sorry this was such a bad review- If anyone wants to know more info just let me know and I will fill you in!
I agree about Lisa. I saw her just last Saturday at the matinee and she did wonderful. She really took the role on well knowing that she would be going on more than normal. We also had the understudy for Adam Brazier, his name is Micheal Shawn Lewis and he was wonderful as well. I do have a question for those who have seen it though. Did you leave the show humming songs from POTO or was that just me?
I thought that the show was ingenious and amazing. The set was awesome and so unique. I loved Micheal Ball, he was truly amazing in the role as the Count.
Just curious, is Maria still out, or was she just out for the performances that you both went to? I have tickets to the night performace on the 28th, and was just curious
It appears she's been in and out. She's definitely not doing Wednesday or Saturday matinees, and won't be, for quite some time. The rest of the performances she seems to be doing when she can- she was in Tuesday.

she wasn't in on Sat. night- the only night she was in over the past 10 days or so has been this past Tuesday night.
Yeah, she was definitely out Saturday night. I checked just in case, because though I love Lisa, I just get into Maria's performance more. But I would hate for her to rush back, which is maybe what she did Tuesday - only to have to step back out again.

I would love to see Maria Friedman. But her health is more important than anything else. I wish her well.
The Show itself is amazing...great story and music....
too bad the set blows big time...it was more distracing. The entire show is done with projections some times they are cool (act 2s projections are far better then act 1s). My big problem is that the show is sooooooo strong you don't need them you could do it with just the cast furinture cotsumes and lights and it would probally be better then what is already on stage..... GO SEE IT Though it truely is worth the ticket price
"I believe my heart" made me sing part of WISHING YOU WERE SOMEHOW HERE AGAIN all night and today too...
but i thought most of the music was really georgeous... ALL FOR LAURA, evermore without you, and everytime the three female leads sang in harmony.... really beautiful stuff!
I also loved the orchestrations for YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING! THe oom pah pah flair was great- and Ball was really great (esp. with the live rat! haha)
and being there when the rat actually works is an extra perk... although watching him try to get it to is funny enough
lol the rat ran back and forth a couple times without a hitch but got stuck behind Michael's head for a bit- and michael was rubbing his head on it- it was hilarious lol
I read some where that Maria only does evening performances. When I was there last saturday matinee she had been previously out.
That giant rat scene was so funny. Micheal does such a great job in the role of the Count. Do you think that he could get a Tony nom. for this role?
I do think that Michael Ball's performance is worthy of a Tony nomination.
she had planned to be on 6 shows a week (only doing evening performances on two show days) However, with her recent surgery she ofcourse needs time to recover. We all wish her the best.
And yes, I hope that Michael gets a nomination... he deserves it.

Yes, this show deserves to be seen!
I do love the musical score and the cast, as a whole, is great in terms of acting chops and vocal ability.
Michael Ball is tremendous in the role of Fosco!

Maria did both shows today, so as for 2-show days, you never know...

Maria's an amazing woman!
I hope she recovers fully and can give her new Broadway fans more memorable moments in the theatre.
I love Maria Friedman, and I hope she makes a full recovery very soon.
glad to hear she's feeling better. I think everyone would love to see her back full time... when she's ready
I wish Maria all the best. It's good to know she's feeling up to two show days again.
However, if she is unable to attend, the show is in good hands with the remarkable Lisa Brescia as Marian. I hope if the show runs, and it ever comes time to replace Maria, that Lisa is given a chance at the role full time. She deserves it.
Lisa is amazing! I kinda wish I saw her in Evita this summer- She played it at Gateway which isnt too far from my house on Long Island- I bet she was great!
she WAS great--- really incredible. The way she approached that role was right on. She's proven she can handle any type of character... from an Amneris, to Eva, to Marian... what a classy lady.
Good Luck to Maria. I really hope her stamina holds out. Being ill is so draining.
