I don't know if anyone else knows this, but per Stiles and Drewe's website, they're going to be releasing two Mary Poppins songbooks a la the Wicked songbook release. I don't know about y'all but, being a piano nerd, I'm pumped because the Poppins score is filled with so many piano flourishes that give the songs character. Discuss (if there can really be much discussion about this, but whatever.)
yay!.. im also a broadway piano book nerd, i have dozens of books..... so will they have it so there is one book with the melody in the piano part and another one where its just accompyment ??

I hope they have a fair number of Drewe and Stiles songs in there, I really wish they would get more exposure [Honk! on Broadway!].

cello_dude,
That's my understanding. Here's the bit from their site about the books. This was written on November 7, and it also mentions that a cast album is still in discussion so maybe there's a bit of hope yet!
"As a little addendum, we are finally producing two songbooks of Mary Poppins which should be available early in the new year. I know for those regulars on the Stiles and Drewe website, you’ll think that probably means some time in 2009, but I assure you it will be sooner than that. I’ve finally presented all the cuts and arrangements of the songs that Cameron, Tom Schumacher, Ants and I have agreed to Hal Leonard, who will be publishing the songbooks. I hope they are going to be a very enjoyable books to play. To explain the two versions: One is a slightly simpler, ‘melody in the right hand’-style book and the second will be a much fuller, almost show-standard piano/vocal style accompaniment. There are also people asking questions about whether there will be a new cast album for the show. The answer to that is – we don’t know at the moment, but it is something that is at least being discussed, so watch this space."
Good news to say the least!
