Thank you =)
Someone told me Gary Beach was in there, I told them they were crazy.
Because if I'm sitting here at home while he's doing that, that would be depressing.
Haha
Enjoy the show, let us know how it went.
=)

It was great. I think Gary Beach was sitting behind us, and I think Daphne Rubin-Vega was there too (Hope she listened to the others sing, especially the Spelling Bee woman beautifully singing "I Dreamed a Dream" without a mic!
The performances were all excellent, but two people stole the show. Beth Leavel (Drowsy Chaperone) and of course Marc Kudisch, who always looks like he's having more fun than anyone in the house when he's up there!
Kudos to all and to Scott Seigael for putting it together!
Only disappointment - where was Hunter Foster? He was supposed to substitute for Sutton.....

I had a great time.
Leavel was amazing as was Euan and Kudisch. The big surprise and the performance that should end any speculation that he can't sing without being dubbed was John Lloyd Young. He beautifully sang an extremely difficult song from Greenwillows. Fantastic!

Posted: 11/14/06 at 6:05pmIt was fantastic! Beth Leavel is a total nut, and I love her for it! Talk about doing a song justice. She was a wild woman up there. The other stand out for me was Eddie Korbich. He's such an old-fashioned goofball. THE DROWSY CHAPERONE has without a doubt one of the *funniest* casts on Broadway. Euan Morton sang such a *gorgeous* rendition of NOT WHILE I'M AROUND. It made me wish he had been cast as Toby in the recent revival, as good as Manoel Felciano was. Lisa Howard delivered a beautiful "I Dreamed A Dream". It made me hope she gets a role that does her voice more justice in the next show she does. Nancy Anderson was cute as a button! A total doll. And Sarah Uriarte Berry...wow. A voice like hers is so rare these days. It made me want to go see BEAUTY & THE BEAST again just to see her. Marc Kudisch is so gosh darn funny. He has this classical opera voice, while at the same time, he can simply move his left foot and the audience is laughing their heads off. John Lloyd Young was stunning. His voice is fantastic. Billy Daugherty has such an "Aww, shucks" "Oh gosh" personality! He needs to get cast in a revival of some old-fashioned musical. I can see him as Percy in THE BOY FRIEND. Liz McCartney's song didn't do her justice. I wish someone would write a new role just for her. She has the most chilling voice, and her song in TABOO brings tears to my eyes just listening to it. Jeffry Denman singing and tapping away to "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was such a *very* pleasant surprise! What a talented guy. And the final number had me literally in tears. The evening was dedicated to Edythe Kenner, who had been a huge supporter of this and other related events over the years, and she passed away just 3 weeks ago. I never met her, but Scott Siegel had such beautiful words to say about her, and then when he introduced the song to be sung in her memory was going to be Stephen Schwartz's "For Good", at first I thought to myself, Oh Lord, WICKED? But for the first time, as the man who sang it totally made it his own, I was able to pay attention to the lyrics, and the song took on a completely new meaning. It's really a beautiful song, but with all of the WICKED hoopla that's been associated with it, I had never heard such a heartfelt interpretation of it. The evening was lovely. A wonderful night had by all.

I agree Foster, I forgot to mention how much I loved the rendition of "For Good", from WICKED. I'm not a fan of the show or score, and this was the first time I was able to step back and hear what the song was about. It seems to work better out of context of the show.
It was a great night. Ups and downs, but that's what made it a true event!
