it's a bit pricey but i splurged tonight and went to feinstein's to see and hear rebecca luker. what a terrific show. very well reviewed in the new york times by stephen holden who said, in part, "...ms. luker is an ardent champion of new American theater songs, combining an introspective urban sophistication with musical-comedy chattiness that are scattered throughout her show...her lyric soprano lends a quality of robust well-being to everything she sings..." she sings some standards and a number of new songs, plus two from secret garden. all the songs were written by women. ms. luker's show play tomorrow night and all next week. well worth it. from the stage tonight ms. luker introduced susan shulman the director of secret garden (and little women) who was in the audience.
