My friend is looking for recordings of broadway actressing singing more classical/opera stuff rather then their typical broadway stuff.

Check out Patti LuPone's recording of Jake Hegge's To Hell & Back. It is recorded with the Philharmonia Baroque. It's amazing.

You can find Lauren Molina singing part of "Dome epais le jasmine" from Lakmé on her website. I wasn't that impressed with though, to be honest.

I'm not sure if Audra McDonald has some more classical music on her CDs, but there are vids on Youtube of her singing some opera.

Candide is an operetta, so yes, it's an aria. A lot of Broadway actresses have recorded it, though.

Search for Daniel Rodriguez's recording of "In The Presence." There is a very beautiful duet of "Pie Jesu" with Lea Salonga.
