Check a Zagat guide for good places.

Simply Pasta is so good... It's right on 41st street..just a bit down from RENT. I think it's between 6th and 7th. It's a really great, resonable restaurant. And it's pretty quick too!

Come over, sugar. I live in the hood and I cook for money.

If you like good Jewish cooking, Ben's Kosher Deli/Restuarant is in the neighborhood. (It can't be strictly kosher, though, because it's open on Saturdays.)

Oh yeah, 42nd Street is loaded with restuarants: MacDonald's, Pizza Hut, Blimpie's, Subway, Burger King. You can knock yourself out on fastfood! You might even be able to find KrispyKremes there!

Oh, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah yes, Applebee's--not really fastfood, just moderately fast.

New York has so many great restuarants, why should someone settle for a chain restaurant that that can be found in every American city?

Not interested in beer and pork? Oh well...
Old San Juan on 9th Ave (around 51st St-about 10 blocks North) is one of the best Latino restaurants around. Haven't tried their margaritas, I'm more of a cervesa guy myself, but seriously, you can't go wrong here.

Ninth Avenue has lots of good places. If you head into the W. 30s, not too far from Rent, I like Market Cafe and Supreme Macaroni. And Cupcake Cafe is nearby for something sweet. Ninth Avenue west of 42nd Street has a stretch of pretty decent, reasonably priced restaurants of just about every food type, all the way up to 54th Street.
