why was the recording only partial. i got a copy and it would have been great to hear the rest
PARTIAL recording? PLEASE shoot me a PM and let me know where you have a recording of this.
They *NEVER* went into a recording studio to make a CD. Not a single song. There is no cast recording of the Sandy Duncan PETER PAN production.
Only rare TV spots can be found on VHS from the Tony Awards and such. Unless a bootleg exists and/or Lincoln Center Library recorded it.
No, hun. There is a DVD of thr 1960 Mary Martin NBC TV broadcast and there is a DVD of the 2000 Cathy Rigby A&E TV broadcast. But no Sandy Duncan.

The Duncan version WAS partially recorded. Rights or Money or both had to do the it not being completed.

According to Bruce Hanson's "The Peter Pan Chronicles", Sandy's production was going to be recorded for television, but the rights were not available. Sandy Duncan is quoted as saying she had her heart set on doing it, and it was a huge disapointment for her and the entire company.
I think I can shed some light here. The Sandy Duncan PETER PAN was never partially recorded in terms of releasing a cast recording. What we do have are full takes of a few songs Duncan and the cast recorded to be extrapolated into radio spots.
It certainly is too bad that a full recording was never made, the recordings for the radio spots are pretty wonderful.

There is however a recording of Sandy Duncan reading "Peter Pan", but it is not the musical version. It is ashame that they never recorded her version. I think she was the best Peter Pan I have ever seen.

God Bless Michael Bennett
What does Michael Bennett have to do with PETER PAN?
I'll take the thank you - though...actually, Cap'n - after his huge success with A CHORUS LINE, Michael Bennett (the director) chose BALLROOM as his follow up, though apparently he came very close to doing the revival of PETER PAN instead.

Michael Bennett was a....in a nice way....butt hole! (Not you. The real MB)
Well I can only imagine what Michael Bennett would have been like with the children - can you imagine all the fun mind games? Forget "Life After Tomorrow" - THAT would have been the documentary I'd want to see!

The last I saw Sandy Duncan, she was in a wheat field.
