MaTakeALookAtMe, I'm glad you liked OCU's production too! I saw it Saturday night, so we saw different leads, but I thought the ones I saw were great too. I actually heard that the Mayzie/Gertrude you saw were probably the "better" ones, but I do think it's neat that they double-cast leads there since they have so many talented people. My student (who was a Wickersham) and Roy were actually both cast as Dickon in the fall production of The Secret Garden. What part did your niece play?
My niece is not an actress, I just take her to the shows with me. I'm not sure which of the Wickershams was your student, but I have seen a couple of them in other productions. Specifically I recall Wes as Mortimer in the Fantasticks..a very great performance also.

seussical's opening number on broadway -
iot opened with the cat in the center of a giant vortex (think porky the pig in the closing moment of every looney toones short saying "that's all folks". he then slid down the vortex (which had a slide in it) and he sang the opening vers of "thinks" before the vortex was sucked away and all of the character started to pop out of everywhere.

If you miissed Oklahoma City University's "Sussical", you missed one of the best shows you will ever see. There was a rep from MTI (who liscenses the show) and claimed it to be one of the best productions they have ever witnessed..even better than the last tour.
OCU is also presenting the Oklahoma premier of Parade next year. Anyone here been accepted into the program? I heard that there were a limited number of slots available for next year.

Oh, okay, sorry, MaTakeALookAtMe. For some reason I thought your niece was in the show. But that's nice that you take her to shows. :) My student was Christopher, the tenor. WayWicked, thanks for posting that about the MTI rep. That is awesome that they said that. I'm not sure about the number of slots for next year, but from what I've heard, there are always a finite number available. I'm definitely looking forward to Parade and am hoping my student gets cast so I'll have an excuse to go. (I don't live in Oklahoma.) Thanks, broadwayguy2, for the description of the old opening.
I recently saw a high school production of it, and was really, quite impressed. Their Cat was *awesome*... amazing comic timing and great voice to boot. The supporting actors and characters were also quite enjoyable... it's not perfect, but it's pretty fun.
