My experience? I left at intermission.
But now I am being even more sarcastic then I was before. PLUS I am totally confusified...
Well, sarcasm is better online isn't it?
which wicked experience would you like me to share???LOL...
Why would someone leave at intermission? The show isn't THAT bad--you'd think you'd at least want to get your money's worth.
Anyway...I went to New York with no tickets, my friend A.Rapp came through and got me house seats. Sunday matinee, Robb Sapp was in as Boq, everyone else was on. And by on, I do mean ON. The show was phenomenal. Better then everyone said it was. I didn't notice any problems with Idina's pitch or acting, she was wonderful. JLT was better then Kristen and even Joey Mac didn't bug me.
Afterwards I took pictures with JMac and JLT and the empty space where Idina should be. Great experience.
YAY for JOEY!
I made the mistake of reading the book first - so the play was absolutely nothing like I had hoped it would be - I mean - its a nice little piece of entertainment if you like that kind of thing - but I think it could be SO much better had they stuck to the book.
Whoops, you wanna pick up that name you just dropped? :-P
HUH!? Tiff
"I went to New York with no tickets, my friend A.Rapp came through and got me house seats."
Don't worry about it jma, SOMEONE just doesn't like me.
And that someone is a Mr. Michael Jackson. Tell me Michael, do you not like me because I'm black....or white?
And yes, shameless name dropping doesn't hurt anyone.
OH, hehe!
Well, w/e Tiff says I MUST BE ON THE KNOW
At least you don't pretend otherwise. It don't matter if yo black or white! OW!
PS. I can't hate someone with a Sex and the City quote in their signature. It just won't happen.
My WICKED experience was strange.
The first time I actually saw the show was on video. Yes, I know, bad bad bad. I thought it was the worst thing I have ever seen and was convinced that it would flop and loose all the money - I thought it was that bad. Then I reluctantly bought the CD when it came out and never listened to it. Then, all of the sudden, people started making a big fuss over it and I figured I must have been missing something, so I listened to the CD the full way through and thought some of the songs were meritable, but most of them made me want to puke and reminded me of MILLIE-ish wanna-be pop music. The Tony nominations had come out and I still hadn't seen the show live, so one day I just walked to the BO and bought a ticket ($100 for that ****) and saw the show. Actually, the best part of the show was watching the little kid next to me chew on her single twizzler for an hour. I enjoyed myself, I honestly did. I thought the finale of act one could have been INCREDIBLE - the music is perfect, but it's done SO awfully. I dont understand how standing on a platform makes people think you're flying. The flying effects in DRACULA impressed me more than the drivel in WICKED. I thought Idina was terrible when I saw her - she was offkey most of the show and didn't hit any of the big notes. Her acting leaves TONS to be desired - I agree completely with the NYT review saying that Kristin was the true star of the show. She left Idina behind in the dust. But, leaving the theatre that afternoon, I was in a pretty happy mood.

Edit: With 'BwLucifer's post deleted, this post made no sense.
Wicked was my first Broadway show and I loved it! It was incredible. The sets, the lights, the staging, and there was sooo much talent! I don't care what all the stuck up ppl who don't like her think! It does tick me off that they don't recognize her talent though. She is like my idol so I like worship the ground she walks on! ha ha ha! But she's got major talent and I think anyone who doesn't see that is either blind or a very strange person
I just remember being in awe of the sets and costumes. The performances were all wonderful as well but, Defying Gravity really got me. I cried i think because of the wonderful lighting! Also, the end of the show was touching and sort of gave the message that 2 different people can change eachother for the better. It's not my favorite musical but, it is certainly brilliantly cast and staged.
"Some bad breathing skills" is an understatement. I was hoping that it wouldn't be quite so apparent live as it was in her Tony performance. Sadly I was sitting close enough to the stage that it still was totally distracting during some of the songs. Plus some times when she sang, because of the contrast between her skin and the inside of her mouth, from where I sat it looked like her tongue was hanging out. I do like her voice though and hope to see her again in something else. The show itself was fun, visually exciting and quite funny when the actors screwed up. Definitely a one timer for me though.
Why do all the pre-teen rabid wicked fans insist that everyone who doesn't think WICKED and Idina are the second coming of christ are "stuck up" and "snobs?"
DArling, we're just SMART.
as long is actually an idiot.. just reading the first page.. who THE HELL uses "gay" as an insult on BROADWAYWORLD.com?! hmm not quite the brightest crayon in the box are we...
Wow...who said that? What is bronx? Maybe no, he prefers "retarted."
