She was pretty good and i think she'll improve as she gets more better with time. and she was suprisingly funny.

My co-worker and I were putting away a delivery the other day across the street at the August Wilson and saw her walking in the stage door. She looked pretty damn hot. She's definitely matured since American Idol.
that's great! now i hope i get to see her !
I'm glad she's doing so well!
Has anyone noticed how good she LOOKS these days? The girl has definitely been working on her body. She looks great!
I am so excited to hear!!! I had a good feeling about her. Did anyone see her afterwards? Did the cast do anything for her as a welcome gift? Thanks for filling us in guys! Keep the posts coming!
afterwards she was very sweet and chatted with everyone. fox 5 news was there after the show also.
there was a cast party after the show, and most of the cast headed over there after... i'm sure it was for her, but I could be wrong.

Ok so I have been following the career of an amazing performer since he was like 18 or something. Anyways Im doing a search online and i see his name popped up here a few times. WHO??? ARBENDER ROBINSON. Truly one of the nicest men I know ( and I know many) and a great performer. he really care sabout his work and all the fans. One day after a show in North Carolina he sopke with my friends and I for about 2 hours.... it was funny because this wa slate at night and he had to catch an early flight to get back to NYC to have a callback for Hairspray. He also helped my friend find the right audition material and coached her ( not even knowing who she was) and now shes on a national tour. So yeah i strongly suggest that you all get to know him..he will change your life and is so full of love and admiration for everyone. NO I DONT WANT TO DATE HIM although my husband thinks I'm crazy for following him so closely. lol.... so it seems there a few others here that either like him or like his work so we should talk. Did you know he has a fan club??? It was started while he wa sin Highschool can you belive that. They will most likely be at the show Sat night....they never miss anything. They even flew to hawaii last summer to see him compete in the finals for the National Society of Arts and Letters acting competition. he was amazing and wond like 6000 dollars in total.....
So yeah just try me.....after the show say hello to him and i bet he will invest time in you.... just a great spirit. Oh he plays Gilbert in the Show the black guy in the hat and toothpick in his mouth..... so not like him in real lofe at all...but fun..... and of course hes a Seaweed Cover...
did you all check www.arbender.com he also has a company thathelps actors get started and advance their career.... It kinda dissapeared for a bit but i heard rumours that he recently bought the company again. he had sold it to SETC for years.... its called actorcare they take "care" of actors
All I have to say is Diana copied tracy miller!!!! Diana had her mom watch tracy so she could tell Diana how to act like Penny. I'm so happy that Tracy has moved on to big and better things, but I think its a shame that had to replace her with someone that is a copycat and has no origniality of her own. Yeah people may like Diana as Penny but for me There will never be anyone who could top Tracy Miller!!!!
I agree that NO ONE will top Tracy Miller, but once Diana DeGarmo settles into the role, I'm sure she will make it her own.

Diana did not copy Tracy, her Penny was very different. It's only natural that there would be some similarities since Tracy is who she watched but she's definately on her way to making the part her own.
pebbles im glad you brought this point up. because i always think that replacing someone REALLY GOOD is a tricky business....as an audience member, you may kind of WANT them to be like the last person, because that is obviously who you loved in the role, and anything different that they do will not be the same to you. But at the same time, if they ARE like the last person, you question whether this "copying" is anything to respect, since they obviously didn't come up with their own take on the role.
my point is, i would kind of feel bad for ANYONE replacing tracy miller cuz it's like....there's no way to win! hahaha...clearly, she just should've stayed penny forever :P

I have a friend who went to the show (and who has seen Kerry Butler, Jenn, and Tracy as Penny) and she said Diana wasn't a copy of any of them and did many unique things with the role. Tracy was certainly beloved, and deservedly so, but hating on Diana for the "crime" of auditioning when the role came open and having the "nerve" to follow Tracy in the role is a little odd.
oh my gosh... did she like... say the same lines?!?! that is soooooooo wrong... I HATE HER
marie did someone actually say that??

I dont want to sound rude. But when Diana is acting all I can visualize is Simon, Paula and Randy.
It's like Christopher Knight....Peter Brady, hard to see them as anything else at this point.

I've seen Kerry, Jenn, Tracy and Diana plus a good number of the understudies and Diana was not a copy of anyone. She did some funny things that were all her own. She didn't play it as akward as Tracy and this was all on her first performance. She is obviously going to be adding and changing things as she grows into the role and gets more used to being on the stage and interacting with the cast.

asher -no not literally (yet, anyway) It was a response to a couple posts who seemed to be implying Diana had no right to take the role and is somehow disrespecting Tracy Miller for following her in the role. : )
i've seen chandra, brooke, jenn, tracy, and kerry as penny and diana defiantly didnt copy any of them. once she got on stage i totally forgot about tracy miller, she was that good.

Just as an FYI for anyone who is thinking about going to see Hairspray to check out Diana DeGarmo, she's scheduled at an NBA event in Texas on Valentines Day. She might be singing the national anthem or something but apparently it was a previously booked commitment that she's honoring.

From a reliable source, I hear she will be out for three days during her run. Next Tuesday, April 1st and May 12th are the dates that her understudy will go on.

Does anyone know if she has any promo pictures of her as Penny on her site or something?

It looks like Diana will be at the show tomorrow as she apparently cancelled her appearance in Texas at the NBA event.
I believe there are pictures of fans with her at the stage door that are on her site (in the forum) but there aren't any promo pics as far as I can tell from just checking briefly.
