Hi, I was wondering if any of you had any good suggestions for an impressive song for a more classically trained soprano...bd'way like phantom or a fun operetta? I am looking all over for something impressive (i'm singing think of me for one song already) but all I can find are ditzy love songs where there are like no moments to shine. My range is somewhere a couple notes below middle C to around D above high C, and I can't really accomplish a good "belt/mix" sound until around C or D above middle C (so most of the stuff I listen to is out, alas!). Thanks!
Try "Green Finch and Linnet Bird" from Sweeney Todd. It's a beautiful soprano art song.

if you could pull it off 'the girl in 14g' is wicked impressive and uses a huge range.
Musetta's Waltz from La Boheme is extremely impressive if you can do it. It's in Italian though.

Thanks! I had forgotten about Green Finch! I have to check if I still have the sheet music. OMG and girl in 14G is mighty impressive...I'll have to play around with it and see if it's something I can handle. I haven't heard La Boheme, but I'll be sure to check that out!! :) If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them, as I may need a few songs (1 person gets kicked off each time so I don't know when I'll go.)

You're a classically trained soprano and you never heard La Boheme?

LOL I only take voice privately...it's not my major...and we work mostly on breathing exercises and random art songs. In my sparetime I mostly listen to popera...I've heard OF La Boheme...I've just never heard the music. :)
