I am really not sure how it would fly in the west end.

A national tour of the acclaimed new musical Spring Awakening — which features a book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik — will launch in the fall of 2008.

An April 30 press statement also says there are plans for productions in the United Kingdom, Spain, Israel, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea and Australia.

This is the kinda show the West End needs more of but I don't see it happening...

Why are they announcing a tour a year and a half in advance? Is that usual?

Why are they announcing it that soon? The production is doing so well, and with the Pulitzer nomination....*oops correction....talks about it,* theaters in the US and abroad have already contacted the company for a booking.

Uh, Spring Awakening didn't get a Pulitzer nomination. And it isn't doing THAT well.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

My guess is that this is a clever strategy to court the touring votes for the Tony.

I stand corrected wonderfulwizard11. I checked my sources and yes, they were just talks and not official nomination. Thanks.
But for sales, I am personally in communication with a company that monitors sales and based on the data we gathered, they're not Wicked but they are faring well compared to other shows.
