Does anyone know what it's about? I know my school's doing it, and I was curious. It's not even in my grade, it's the fifth grade, but I was just curious. Updated On: 12/20/04 at 07:52 PM

It's based on the book "My Love My Love" by Rosa Guy.

it looks as if i might, most probably, will be choreographing the production of once on this island for the middle school...i have a 15-sec thing done for auditions tomorrow, but i have 10+ years of dance experience whereas the kids have, like, none...anyone have any ideas on how i might tone down the choreography?? the director wants tribal stuff, but idk how to make that really simple and still look good...please help mere: synopsis of 'Once On This Island'

I was just in OOTI and I remember being told- African dance is very low to the ground, lots of hunching over- they loved being close to the earth- So i was told- hense worshiping the Goddess of the Earth. Uumm- stay low, stay low they always yelled. No one should look like they're doing ballet- it doesnt make sence with the music or story. Take the story line, maybe be a little literal with the lyrics?
These people live on an island, and dance for everything- when it rains, for the crops to grow, love, to pray to live, when they have nothing else to do, they dance....well- thats just my two cents.re: synopsis of 'Once On This Island'

Thanks Zepka. They're doing Once on this Island next year in Orange County (the OC!) and I've been enjoying both CDs of it. I'd kind of figured out the plot but this will help me to enjoy the music even more as I await the production!
