Hmm, too bad that "Wicked on TV" site has been down for these last few days, otherwise I could watch the clip and give you an answer. I don't recall a "Tarzan yell" She just belts some words or something.
The friggen' ensemble members are distracting. "She's wicked!" "She's Wicked!"

I think I know what you are referring to with the "tarzan yell". It's just after she does the second "bring me down" and then just sings nothing in particular? That is indeed in the show. I never thought of it to sound like Tarzan, but given it is just notes and no words, I suppose you could take it that way.

Posted: 11/24/03 at 5:28pmIt's definitely Tarzan-like. The night I saw Wicked all the animals from The Lion King stampeded down the aisle in response.

Posted: 11/24/03 at 5:49pmI love her belting at the end. Her mouth gets so big and its so fascinating to watch how she can sing like that. I love it! Yeah the ensemble piece is kinda wierd at the end, but eh, I still love the show- its my definate favorite.

Posted: 11/25/03 at 8:39pmI didn't notice anything too Tarzan-ish about Idina's final note...it sounded very nice to me, especially in the show

Posted: 11/25/03 at 9:11pmElphie, I know what you mean about her mouth opening up. When I was watching Letterman, it reminded me *so* much of her picture on the original RENT poster. She was making the same "wide-mouthed" face then, and it brought back memories.

Posted: 11/25/03 at 9:35pmThat's the one thing I hate about the song. I mean, it sounds like she's trying to riff, but if she was doing it correctly it wouldn't sound like she was howling.
