Posted: 7/26/08 at 2:01pmI'd say Caroline, or Change because it's leading lady wasn't a typical leading lady, and the score was very innovative and beautiful. Next would be, Spring Awakening because of it's juxtaposition of story and song. Avenue Q because of the "adult" puppets and widespread success. I'm not sure about the others...Passing Strange I guess is innovative in the fact that it tried to do something different, but I don't really care for the score at all. There are a few shining moments, but as whole, it's not something I cared for, but maybe it's something that has to have the visual as well. I'd say the Adding Machine is a very innovative piece of theater. And Coast of Utopia because of it's grand scale and the size of the thing.
