'K, I booked my BARE tkts. a few weeks ago. (I was supposed to see it during it's original run last Spring, but they closed it 1 week before we were set to see it, which really burned my onion. Grrrrrrrrrrr.)

Anyway, we're set to see the BARE matinee on 10/2 (and Paula Vogel's THE OLDEST PROFESSION at Signature Theater Company that evening). Now, I didn't have the strength to read all 45 pages of the old "Bare" thread. SacredheartofJesus! LOL

Can someone tell me, please, who from the original cast WILL be in it, and who will NOT be returning? I would go to their site and peruse it, but this board is infinitely more amusing. Anybody got the piping hot dish on this?

Of the original cast, the only people that are NOT going to be in it as of this point are Isaac Calpito (Alan/Ensemble), Romelda Benjamin (Sister Chantelle/Mary) and Sasha Allen (Tanya/Ensemble). I haven't heard anything about who's going to replace them, but apparently they're also adding a female swing too. They just had auditions the end of July.

Heheheh....one day, when BARE becomes a big Broadway hit and the world grows old, they will document that thread and publish it as the Bare Bible (a la the Rent bible) for all the world to read, and all will be good once more, unto the ending of the earth.

AMEN, Blue!

We'll be bigger than the Rentheads...and much cleaner too. That whole camping out, no showering thing? Ew.

Instead of the ripped jeans, greasy hair and faded shirts, we'll be rediculously well-groomed, with white shirts and argyle vests, and grey pants (crimpy skirts for the girls). re: the BARE facts -

AHHH. I so see a new trend beginning! Ripped jeans, greasy hair and faded shirts was SO '96.

Mmm. Argyle vests. Now I'm thinking of Mikey.

I've always thought Catholic schoolboys were hot. I think it's a fashion fad waiting to happen.

Let's move this to the big Bare thread! (I think I'm obsessed with making that thread grow and grow and grow.)

Um, four years of wearing pleated skirts in Catholic high school was more than enough to last me a lifetime. I vote the girls get to wear the jeans that are worn to the rave and the boys have to wear Jason's outfit in One. Seems fair enough to me.

I like the jeans/white button down/tie ala Michael Arden re: the BARE facts -
Trisky can be the lone jean girl lol

As long as we don't become a cult, I'm fine with it all. Argyles, Jason's "One" outfit and all re: the BARE facts -

I'll be attending a BARE matinee too - is it true that they cut stuff out in the matinees *cough*nudity*cough*? That would seriously suck. Not like it will matter too much, since I'll be seeing it more than once - and will definitely catch a nighttime showing. But still, I'm going to the matinee with friends of mine and do not want them denied the beauty that is John Hill in underwear (and probably Michael Arden, too, in the new "satellite version" re: the BARE facts -).

Well, I don't think they'll cut it out for the matinee. The only instance of nudity cut out for matinees was for DRACULA and that was because they wanted to make it a family show. BARE isn't a family show even without the nudity, so I don't see the need to take it out.

PLUS-I'm seeing a matinee so they better leave it in re: the BARE facts -

So, I ordered the "free" BARE cd from sh-k-boom and it says "NEW YORK CITY - FALL 2004" Does anyone know when, exactly, in the Fall? Because I'd very much like to see it...

Michael Arden & John Hill are still going to be playing Peter and Jason, correct? Lord, I hope so.

I love newbies...*sigh*

The amazing Michael Arden and John Hill will return to the roles of Peter and Jason, thank god. You'll surely enjoy the show, it's amazing.

Sounds like you belong over on the BARE Cast thread...lol it's over 1000 posts and we're gaining members everyday.

EDIT: Who wouldn't enjoy Michael and John singing about their love for each other? Updated On: 8/10/04 at 02:07 PM

Well, I don't know much about BARE--but the 11 songs I've heard from the CD are great.

And I love the intro song they play on the website...There is certainly a surge of opera-type shows flooding theatre right now...

Well, if Caroline, or Change and BARE count for "a surge". :) I'm glad that it will be fresh when I go--and I can count on original cast still being there, less than a month after opening...It's a good feeling :) I love seeing original casts; I love putting faces to voices.

Have you seen the show, aspiringguy715?

One day I will live in NYC and I'll get to see tons of original casts... :) But until then, I just listen to the CD's and dream, hah!

You MUST check out the BARE Cast thread...you don't have to read through all 40 something pages lol.

I love the opera setting, I'm a classical opera fan myself, and seeing it modernized and brought to broadway is great.

I haven't seen the show, but am looking forward to my trip to see it September 25th. I know tons about it though, yet I'm not the #1 resource.

So true!!! Seems like our stories/dreams are very alike lol

LOL, it IS long, isn't it? But most of it is just fawning over Michael.....oh Michael.....Arden....

But if you search closely, you'll find a lot of buried goodies. Like a super-complete Bare synopsis, some gossip on the cast, insider news, etc. re: the BARE facts -

About "baring" in BARE: I seriously don't think they'll be nudity when the show reopens in September. I think John Hill's 2xists is as far as it goes. re: the BARE facts - But it seems we'll get a bit of shirtless flesh from Michael too, hee hee!

Sung-through musicals come and go. They were at an all-time high in the 1980s, with Les Miz, Phantom, and Miss Saigon. Now, not so much; there are a handful, like Rent, Caroline and BARE. I really like it; more music, and without the obstacle of "bursting into song."

thibodeaux, what icon is that? It looks scary!

I suggest going to the BARE Cast thread and searching for a synopsis, or going to the official website below.

It's an amazing story, focusing on high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school. The show is based around Peter and Jason, two closeted lovers who have to deal with the world around them and the many obstacles they face. Woven between their story are the many other conflicts and plot developments concerning love, hate, finding you way, and discovering who you are. The show features an amazing rock/pop score, and the show is entirely sung through...hence the "Pop Opera" title. It also has an amazingly talented/good looking cast.

There is my cheesy MAJORLY short synopsis and here is the link to the site:
