i've heard from quite a reliable source that the next boy from oz, once hugh jackman leaves the show is going to be.
drum roll please.......
Ricky Martin!
(no lie!)
Really? You don't say.

On the contrary, I hear the buzz for Harry Connick,Jr, is getting stronger.
Jo
Hmmmm. Connick would make sense, and he even collaborated with Allen on a recording of "When I Get My Name In Lights".

Oh, puh..leeze...!
Piglet, do you want to inform this person????
By the way, it's a no to Connick too.
I think Ricky will be awesome if he gets to play Peter Allan. But who knows until you actually see them in that role right?
She Bangs She Bangs, Oh Baby when She Moves, She Moves....
Issa...I would, but Harry is what I was told recently as well. Heck, for all I know its going to be Rick Springfield! He is Aussie afterall!
Whoever is cast it will interesting to see the effect it has on both demand and box office gross.
RICK ROCKS!!!! new cd SHOCK/ANGER/DENIAL/ACCEPTANCE hits the stores 2/24/04
check out http://www.shockdenialangeracceptance.com and
http://www.rickspringfield.com Rick was great in SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE :)
I'd put my career on hold to be Ricky's dresser.

Cool. Then can I have your job?
5-6-7-8-1-Good Morning Baltimore!
(Is the musical director allowed to sing along?)
Sorry, folks, if the producers think this show has even a squeak of a chance without Hugh, their BRAINS are in Oz. Let's close the show after he leaves and end it with dignity.

Even WITH Hugh, the show "doesn't have a chance". It's not a show, it's a way of bilking people of their hard earned money!
yah I agree..that show is carried by the fact that hugh jackman has sooo much charisma and that he is hot and he knows it....that's it...oh and plus the music is good!
I would have a quiet wager on John Travolta playing the role myself.

John Travolta has visited the show ( see People magazine), but that was because he went to see his friend, Mr. Jackman ![]()

Issa....everyone is now saying that this poster is correct. That they have decided Ricky is now a go. PLEASE PLEASE tell me its just a lie! ???? If its true...I hope every ensemble member decides to leave when Hugh leaves...so I don't have to go back!

No to Ricky unless he totally backtracks on his demands. And even THEN still probably no.
Who is the "everyone" you refer to?
I want to see Anthony Warlow play this part, not necessarily because he fits the character but just because I just need to hear that voice again!
Issa...I heard from a VERY reliable source that he indeed spoke with the production staff yesterday and he was told that Ricky was indeed a go. So if you can still shed some light on that...I for one would be grateful!
I will be very sad when Hugh exits, however, I feel it's a GREAT show and I welcome Ricky Martin to the role! Only time will tell if he's the next Peter Allen...
I had my heart set on Joey Lawrence, but WELCOME!

Calling Piglet from London:
Darlin' --- Sorry to be tardy in responding but have been airborne and traveling since quickie trip to U.S. for von Essen show and final Broadway "Taboo".
Well, frankly, I don't know who you are talking to at BFO...but it is now Sunday afternoon here in merry ol' England - and even from here, the answer is still NO RICKY. TPTB didn't even take his demands seriously...more of a big giggle (if not total amazement...conversely, I know Ricky pretty well and I wasn't the least bit amazed by his demands...no, not in the LEAST!)
Still looking at the other mystery man - although none of the guesses discussed on this site...(ie. Stamos, Connick, Banderas, Travolta, etc.) is the one I'm referring to. Travolta is the closest though - same type of career.
But nothing new to report on progress in the replacement search so the less said the better.
Now, maybe if Ricky totally changes his stance, he'll get the role in the end. As of today, the deal is dead ....BUT tomorrow is another day!
Don't forget, the same producer changed his mind about keeping "Gypsy" open!
