i remeber hearing that pbs was going to air the makeing of wicked. when is this going to be aired or has is alread aired??? at least in dallas or kansas??? thanks:)

WICKED will be feature prominently in the sixth part of a six-part documentary called Broadway: The Musical. Produced by Channel Thirteen, it's currently scheduled to air on PBS in October/November 2004.

These are two seperate programs... "The Making of..." special will air in May (before Tony Awards) on PBS...so if you get PBS- you will see it :)

There is no "Making of Wicked" program. Only the upcoming documentary, which will air in the fall.
As I mentioned, it is in six parts and traces the evolution and history of the American musical. It uses archival footage and new interviews with theatre personalities.
In Part 6, they focus on "Wicked" as an example of a new musical. The crew covered New York rehearsals (pre-San Francisco), the San Francisco run, the second New York rehearsal period and then the Broadway opening.
Advance word is very good.

Wow! Seams to be a big tv specials about the history of Broadway musical! Please!!!..If someone will tape it on vhs, can send me a copy of the entire serie to a poor unfurtunable italian fan??

Dang, I always miss everything on t.v. that has anything from Broadway. I don't even think I get a bunch of the shows about theater where I live. Grrr...

just cause something airs on pbs doesnt mean all pbs stations will carry it...they each choose programming based on demographic and information gathered during those horrible constant pledge periods. but if it is successful like most pbs docs it prob will have a dvd or vhs package offered some time after airing...

Just want to make sure you all know about the Broadway movie that is opening in June. It is called "Broadway: The Golden Age" and I am already a fanatic about it. I saw it at Santa Barbara and San Diego Film Festivals, where it won both Best Documentary and Audience Favorite. EVERYBODY is in it, although it focuses on the "golden age." The director said at the screening that there is a sequel already called "Broadway: The Next Generation" with a younger gang. Anyway, I know it opens in NYC in June and here in California and other towns in July - and the DVD is Thanksgiving, and evidently loaded with extras.
