Has anyone heard of the Brian Friel play Dancing at Lughnasa? Dont you think that it could be made into a musical? i dont know. maybe im off-base in thinking that but its just my opinion. I was curious to see what you all thought.

I played Michael in DAL. The poetry is far too beautiful, IMHO, to change from prose to music. It works so unbelievably well as a play, you know. If it ain't broke.... Michael's last monologue still makes me cry when I read it. God, it's good!

Word. Word, indeed.

I know the play. I was the management assistant for the Broadway production. And yes, I think it could be made into a musical. Good idea!

I do know this show! I'm actually in it right now...I'm playing Rose. However, I don't think it would have the same effect in music. I was talking to my friend the other day about how music tends to be the best way to get a message across...but for this show, I think it would trivialize the human frailities of all of the characters. Just my opinon, but I absolutely ADORE this show. I hated it when I read it the first time...but performing it gives me a whole new perspective.
