"Ticket prices are rising and popular shows are hard to get into, but there's still a bazillion discounts for worthy if not-so-popular shows. "

yeah but people arent really aware of what not-so-popular shows they can get.

I mean i dont know why it surprises me that much. But people expect to be able to get a seat. I almost chuckle when i am at the hotel and talking to people and they are lke "yeah we are thinking of going to see wicked or jersey boys". Its like youch good luck.

hmmm :) if you want to raise the ratings ... just advertise a wicked performance every year :)

The Tonys are just that, The Tonys -- they will NEVER be the Oscars or Grammys. They will NEVER have a huge following or audience. Contrary to what was quoted above, there ARE people outside of NYC who follow and love Broadway and enjoy the Tonys.

CBS doesn't seem too upset about ratings or they would have dropped the show already, and they haven't. It does air after sweeps in the 'slow' TV season, so they seem fine with it.

If they do decide to stop broadcasting the show, it should go to Bravo or A&E, a cable network 'devoted' to the ARTS. The coolest thing about that would be that it would be replayed 100 times! And with Bravo, we might even get some red carpet action.
