if I was a theatre person I would want to be represented by George Lane at CAA.
(note I am not a theatre person, nor do I work at CAA :))

Its not really a matter of top 10, bad agencies, whatever. Its more about personality-agent fit. The "biggies" in the musical theatre field, meaning those who handle the most broadway clients, not the best, from my understanding, are: CAA, William Morris, DGRW, Harden Curtis, Waters and Nicolosi (sp?), Abrams Artists, Gage Group, Gersh, Bauman Redanty and Shaul, etc., etc.
But I think its more about the right fit for an actor.

That is a pretty solid list. I don't think Waters and Nicolosi exists anymore, though. I think they went their separate ways. In any case, I would be thrilled to be represented by any of them. And I think all of those mentioned have just as many clients in film and tv as in musical theatre. But please correct me if I'm wrong.
Do you know what the personality types are at the different agencies, by any chance? Wonder which would be right for me. Just curious...

Well, you need to be very realistic and look at what your experience level is.
For example, virtually none of those top agencies will even consider performers who aren't already in the unions or (if you are trying for a film career) don't have a substantial reel and only take clients based on recommendation from proven industry professionals.
Agencies like CAA, William Morris, ICM, etc will probably not consider you unless you already have a very substantial resume. CAA pretty much only handles "stars."
